Thanks to Reps for supporting roadway safety measures

March 28, 2013 by RI BIke

20130328-125915.jpgBack on February 21st in a post title “Not enough cyclists killed to count“, we passed along a request to take action in asking Secretary LaHood at USDOT to include bicycles and their users in developing safety goals and performance measures. At this time USDOT was not considering any inclusion of non-motorized goals and measures. We can’t say that your letters have changed the plan, but that thanks are in order to our members of congress for also supporting a complete view of road safety.

In Congress a letter of support, authored by Reps. Blumenauer (D-OR) and Coble(R-NC) has beeen sent to Secretary LaHood with signatures of 68 members of the House of Representatives.
A huge thanks to Reps. Cicilline and Langevin for adding their signatures to the letter.

Pass along your personal thanks to your Representative at the Bike League’s alerts center.

A full scan of the letter and its signatures is available online.
