Climb Capitol Hill With Us on October 3rd Between 11:30am and 3:00pm!
The First Annual Providence Hill Climb is a significant opportunity in U.S. Open Cycling’s work to get people on bikes to improve their health and that of the environment. We have chosen Smith Street between Canal and Park (Capitol Hill) because it is challenging – but not daunting – to cyclists of all ages and abilities. We hope that the event will help to inspire all Rhode Islanders to live healthier by bicycling more. The hill itself is less than 2/5 of a mile long and only 63 feet up… but generating miles of smiles! The event will be “live” from 11:30am until 3:00pm. Staging and exhibition will be at the Roger Williams National Memorial.
In the next two weeks we’ll be blitzing the schools and offices, websites, print and airwaves of our state to promote the event. We’ll be emailing to the list of U.S. Open Cycling, East Coast Greenway, Department of Health and others. Social media promotion will include Facebook, Twitter and Active.com. We’ll be inviting teams from local corporations, colleges. Police departments, scout troops and 4-H clubs. We hope to turn out several hundred cyclists of all ages and abilities. I hope that all of you will participate with us and be among those cyclists!
Registration for individuals is $20, $10 for “kids” under 18 and FREE for those under 12. There is a TEAM RATE of $100 (6-10 riders) and a TANDEM rate of $30.
