Help Fight Major Amendment #19–The key things you can do this week!

August 12, 2019 by Kathleen

Would you like to help fight Major Amendment #19 and keep $37 million available for walk and biking projects? Here are the two most important things you can do this week.

1) Contact the Governor
Let Governor Raimondo you oppose gutting the Transportation Alternatives Program at the following:

http://www.governor.ri.gov/contact/

Also, call the Governor’s office:

(401) 222-2080

“My name is ________ from _________ and I’m calling to request the Governor oppose RIDOT’s Major  Amendment #19.”

That is all you need to say. They are recording all of the calls regarding this issue.

Alternatively, you can use the following snail mail address:

Governor Gina Raimondo
Office of the Governor
82 Smith Street
Providence, Rhode Island 02903

All public comment must be received by August 22 at 3:30.

2) Pack the public hearing rooms
Even if you don’t plan to speak, it would really help to have a strong showing at both of the public hearings. Come to one or both of the meetings–your mere presence will send a strong message to the TAC that Rhode Islanders want monies available for walk and bike projects. Of course, if you are moved to speak, that’s great, too!
