The next BikeTalk, RIBike’s monthly speaker series, is October 7th. It will feature Steve Miller of the Boston area’s Liveable Streets Alliance. The KMC CycloCross Festival at Roger Williams Park in Providence is this weekend! This is one of two world-class sporting events that happens in all of Rhode Island, so it’s not to be missed! The afternoon will begin in the classroom, progress to practicing bike maneuvering skills in a car-free parking lot, and culminate in a 3-mile city ride in small, intimate groups led by instructors. MUST HAVES: a bike, helmet, and basic riding skills. Sign up HERE – space is limited! Bike Newport members receive 15% off all classes.
If you visited Newport this summer, you may have noticed the waving street banners lining Memorial Blvd and other major thoroughfares asking all road users to – you guessed it – WAVE! The Newport community is coming together to improve safety on their busy roads, so WATCH and SHARE the video to get residents and visitors involved and like the Facebook page to see how the message is spreading. Own a local business? Own this campaign too. Say I see you. WAVE. #dothewave #rollnice #strollnice.

The first event will be held next Thursday, October 8th, at 6:30pm. It’s called Bike the Night, and it’s going to be awesome!
Not only does this weekend bring the KMC Cyclocross Festival and Gran Fondo New England to Providence, but on Friday night, you can attend the New England Builders’ Ball, the premiere hand-built bike show in the northeast. It’s only $5, and there’s beer. We’re sure that’s enough incentive to get you there, but if it’s not, you should know that the event benefits the excellent East Coast Greenway Alliance. See you there.
