Congressman Blumenaur Bikes with NYC Advocates

This video was actually posted on the StreetsFilms a few weeks back and I’m just now getting a chance to post it.   If you haven’t yet seen the video, I’d encourage you to take a few minutes and watch it:

I think the film format allows them to pack a bunch of information into a relatively short period of time.  Just watching the motorist disregard for the first bike lane shown and the relaxed nature of the ride during the rest of the film, sure makes me wonder whether it’s worth pushing to get bike lanes installed.  Wouldn’t it be great if we in Rhode Island could somehow figure out a way to provide road separated bike lanes along busy arterial streets in densely populated areas?  It would certainly take mindset change on behalf of our elected officials.  However, we’ve now seen a change in heart of officials in Chicago, New York, and Boston.  Could Providence follow in their footsteps?
