Coming soon: Better biking in East Providence

June 21, 2021 by RI BIke

Mock up design of First Street Bike lane pilot project

The First Street Bike Lane Pilot Project is a temporary bike lane filling the gap between Warren Avenue and the Veterans Memorial Parkway in East Providence. It will make for a much safer and more comfortable ride along the East Bay Bike Path and we cannot wait!

UPDATE (June 21, 2021): The East Providence City Council has voted to approve this pilot project! Construction will begin soon and once complete the project will remain for 30 days.

UPDATE (June 10, 2021): This project was scheduled to begin on June 1, but has been delayed by the East Providence City Council. They are asking for a city ordinance for the project, which is being prepared. If you live in East Providence, consider contacting your councilperson to express support for safer biking along First Street. We will share any updates as we get them.
