Hi all,
A note on behalf of Grow Smart RI:
We encourage bike/ped advocates to attend en mass and bear witness to the vote on Amendment #19 by the Transportation Advisory Council (TAC) tomorrow (Thurs., 8/22) at 5:30 PM in Conference Room A, One Capitol Hill, Providence.
The TAC will be voting on a recommendation to the State Planning Council regarding Amendment #19, a proposal by RIDOT to cut $37M from the Transportation Alternatives category of project funding that supports the safety of those walking and biking in Rhode Island.
The public hearing has been closed, but there will be an opportunity to comment at the end of the meeting following the vote.
By our count, approximately 62 people attended public hearings in Narragansett and Providence and a total of 34 people spoke out, 33 of whom objected to the proposal to slash funding for bike/ped projects.
Please share as you see fit, and we hope you can attend to show your support.
