ADVOCACY ALERT–PROVIDENCE EDITION

February 5, 2020 by Kathleen

At tomorrow night’s Providence City Council meeting, Councilwoman Ryan intends to introduce an ordinance that would stall many public works projects by adding onerous and unnecessary requirements. If approved, this ordinance would delay many improvement projects, including those necessary for safety. Furthermore, it would allow a minority of residents to block changes that would benefit all road users.

You can read the proposed ordinance here.

Clearly, this is part of Councilwoman Ryan’s ongoing charge against bike lanes in her ward. Please contact your city councilor to register your support of bike lanes and to oppose the idea that neighbors can veto roadway improvements that would significantly improve safety for all.
