Many cyclists riding through Barrington are familiar with the White Bridge. If you’ve ridden through the area in the last few weeks, you’ve undoubtedly noticed that RIDOT is working on the bridge. Here is a quick update we received from RIDOT on the work being done:
Crews will begin demolition of the existing bridge. Barges will be on hand to collect debris as the bridge is dismantled. The existing bridge sidewalk will be prepped for removal. The contractor will begin to remove and dispose of the existing bridge rail, sidewalk and the east and west abutments.
Due to this bridge demolition work, there will be an alternating traffic pattern on Massasoit Avenue, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Subsequently, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the westbound lane will be closed from Martin Avenue to County Road. Please continue to follow the detour using New Meadow Road and County Road. Eastbound traffic will not be affected.
