PPD Bike Patrol

September 15, 2010 by RI BIke

I raised my hand and volunteered to approach the Providence Police Department to find out about their Bike Cop program. My first visit led me to a phone number and response from two Officers in the building. Both Officers told me the same thing.

There is no Bicycle Patrol Division.

There is no Bicycle Patrol Training.

The Officers that we see around Providence have volunteered to do those patrols. It might be seen as better Duty than what they normally do. Other than that, not much news.

I’ll keep you all posted on what I find.

Dennis
