On Saturday, September 22nd, The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council(WRWC)will hold the 3rd annual Woony River Ride. The ride explores the watershed of the Woonasquatucket River Watershed in Providence, Johnston, Smithfield, North Smithfield and North Providence. With options for 27- or 50-miles, riders explore the ridges, valleys, country roads, urban areas and historical sites that lead to Providence’s première destination, Waterplace Park, by bicycle.
Proceeds from the ride allow the WRWC staff to maintain the Fred Lippitt Woonasquatucket Bikepath, and is working with the communities in the watershed to continue development. In addition, they also run the “Red Shed” a community bike shop at Riverside Park in Olneyville, as well as kayaking programs, other fun rides, river clean ups, and much more.
