Rhode Island Bike Events: Oct 4-5-6
Providence will once again be the epicenter of the bike universe in early October! Four great events roll in that weekend.
New England Bike-Walk Summit, Friday October 4, 9 am – 5 pm: a day-long professional conference with a wide array of breakout sessions addressing a broad range of bicycle and pedestrian issues. Draft program and registration link now enabled on the event website.
New England Builders’ Ball, Friday October 4, 7-10 pm: a celebration of New England bicycle framebuilders, this is more a party than a trade expo. Live music, cash bar, and great works in steel, titanium, aluminum, carbon, and maybe even wood…
Providence Cyclocross Festival, Fri-Sat-Sun Oct 4-6: Rhode Island’s biggest sporting event, with elite athletes from around the world, PVD Cross Fest is widely considered to be the most prestigious ‘cross event in the Americas. If you’ve been there, you understand. If you haven’t seen it before, book a flight for Roger Williams Park. World-class racing, beer garden, big expo, bike swap.
And for the first time: Gran Fondo New England, Sunday October 6. A gran fondo is to cycling what a marathon is to running: a mass-start event, where almost everyone is there to challenge themselves and have a good time, with a relative few actually competing for prizes. GFNE offers three route options of 27, 64, and 103 miles, all of which feature spectacular “Autumn in New England” scenery. Along the route are aid stations, snack stops, and mechanical support. At the end (at the cyclocross races in Roger Williams Park), a complimentary lunch (and beer!) await, just in time to watch elite ‘cross racing, and enjoy the expo and the bike swap. Click the link above, and check it out!
See you in October. We’re proud to support these great events in the Ocean State – and we hope that you’ll support them too!
