Bristol’s Hope Street Returns to Two-way Traffic Pattern

RIDOT announces that

Hope Street (Route 114) in the Town of Bristol will return to two-way traffic tomorrow, Friday, September 21, 2012.

This milestone marks the completion of work accomplished on Hope Street through a $3 million contract with LAL Construction. RIDOT worked closely with the Town throughout the entire project to temporarily rearrange the downtown traffic pattern for the final phase of the project, making Hope Street and Thames Street each one-way. This shift saved nearly nine months of work.

This is good news for cyclists riding off the Southern section of the East Bay Bike Path and heading into Bristol.  During the course of construction, bicycle traffic coming off the path was dumped onto Thames Street, what was once and should once again be a nice quiet street.
