Aquidneck Island Reuse Planning Authority – Public Meeting
opportunity to shape the future of Naval Station Newport’s 225 acres of surplus land
The meeting will include:
- Presentation of AIRPA’s role and responsibilities
- Overview of the baseline conditions for the surplus property
- Summary of Notices of Intent received by AIRPA
- Next steps in the reuse planning process
AIRPA representatives will answer questions about the reuse planning process, and they are eager to hear what ideas the public has for the surplus properties.
The reuse plan will include the community’s vision, goals, and objectives for the redevelopment of the five parcels through proposed land uses. This plan is due to be submitted to the Department of Defense and the Department of Housing and Urban Development in August 2011.
This is a perfect opportunity for cyclists interested in riding on Aquidneck island to voice their opinion about possible bicycle access and infrastructure uses for this land. Please let us know if you are able to attend, so we can follow up with a post to the community about the information presented at the public meeting.
