So what happened? What about the bill the House passed usung the non-three foot distance? Did anyone go to the session to represent cyclists?

I did go to the Assembly, and we have been folloowing this issue on the ribke legislative list.

There were 3 somewhat different "safe passing" bills (H7243 Gemma, H7933 McNamara, S2706 Connors) and on the last day, a variant, H7243A and a matching S2706A was passed in concurrence and transmitted to the Governor. As of this writing, it is pending the action of the Governor. At the Bike Coalition meeting consensus was to support the bill that passed as better than nothing and thank the sponsors. I'll post details on this site as soon as the Governor takes action (signs, vetoes, or lets it take effect without signature) so all can comment. In the meantime anyone can visit to get to the Assembly site to read the bill or call the Governor's Office, 222-2080 to voice an opinion.
