Pamela Reinsel Cotter: Bike to work? I finally did it

I used to be jealous of the folks who got to ride their bikes to work. As a suburbanite, and one who used to own only a mountain bike, I never expected to make the 22-mile journey from North Kingstown to Providence and actually perform my job after that.

But I’ve done it. Read the rest of the story here.

So far, the poster series, which will grace the doors and windows of area businesses, includes six cycling role models – with more to come:  Mayor Steve Waluk, City Councilor Jeanne Napolitano, Music Promoter Charles Roberts, Musician LeRoy White, Navy Cdr Charles Albrecht and Superintendent of Schools Jack Ambrogi. Watch the shop windows of Newport and check back here often!

Bike Helmets “Re-Interpreted” by Newport artists are on display at Harbor Art Center, 134 Spring Street in Newport. Please visit to bid on the helmets. All proceeds benefit Bicycle Education in Newport Public Schools.
