Vulnerable Road User Bill Filed Again
Feb 13th, 2012 | By bschiller | Category: Advocacy
Thanks to Senator Sosnowski and Representative Tanzi, “vulnerable road user” bills S2214, H7463, have been filed to ensure appropriate consequences when a motorist, not taking due care, kills or injures a bicyclist, pedestrian, wheelchair user, highway worker etc. This time our CTC partners have endorsed the bill, no hearings yet scheduled by the Judiciary Committees.
I note a similar bill, already law in NY and DE, is advancing in CT.
There are many other related bills in the RI Assembly that could improve road conditions for bicyclists – to deal with “complete streets,” to toughen drunk driving and anti-texting laws, to ban most use of hand-held cell phones while driving, to up penalties when traffic violations lead to inures or death. Please contact RIBike for more information.

I’d like to get involved and speak on this bill!
I’ll get in touch, and post on this site when a hearing is scheduled.
