A number of prominent Newporters are helping to promote Newport’s May 20th Bike to Work Day and Bike Fair by jumping on their own bicycles to encourage bicycling as an alternative to the car, and to model the smarts of safe cycling themselves.

So far, the poster series, which will grace the doors and windows of area businesses, includes six cycling role models – with more to come:  Mayor Steve Waluk, City Councilor Jeanne Napolitano, Music Promoter Charles Roberts, Musician LeRoy White, Navy Cdr Charles Albrecht and Superintendent of Schools Jack Ambrogi.
