There was a correction made to the Projo article. I've updated the main post, but for those following these comments:
<blockquote>
Correction: An earlier version of this report incorrectly stated how federal stimulus funds will be used at the historic Kingston Station. The Rhode Island Department of Transportation says those funds will be used to repair the roof. The station tower project will be funded under RIDOT’s normal program funds for 2010.

<blockquote>
Frankly, I’m not a fan of spending lots of money on landscaping, unless its to remove dead limbs likely to fall across bikeways.
</blockquote>
I agree! I saw the same $575K earmarked for landscaping and thought about all the treacherous places to ride around the State and just shook my head. Some day we will crack the RIDOT nut and be able to offer them some better options when they see a pot of money and need to spend it on bicycle infrastructure.

This list skips the $575,000 federal grant RIDOT is administrating for the landscaping on Woonsocket end of Blackstone Bikeway.

Frankly, I'm not a fan of spending lots of money on landscaping, unless its to remove dead limbs likely to fall across bikeways. I'd rather they spend it on laying asphalt between Quidnick and Hill Farm Road on WSBP in Coventry, or elsewhere on bikeways.

But list does fix outlying roads where bicyclists also ride. I'm willing to bet these several drainage "improvements" will further impede and restrict cycling. Agreed, more work is needed in crowded metro areas.

You mean the section of road that looks like it is used as for practice bomb runs?

Is this section of Broadway a State road? I have a feeling that the State doesn't pick it up until the intersection with Pawtucket Ave. and to the North. It could be that this is EPs problem.

Gah! What about the dangerous disaster in EP? The stretch of Broadway from Masasoit to The bridge at Roger Williams is terrible.

It is unsafe for bikes, has to be bad for car wheels and the bridge is down to 1.5 lanes wide. This is a busy route for almost everybody coming out of Rumford, bike commuters from Seekonk, Attleboro and EP, as well as City dwellers trying to get to the country for a bike ride.
