Nov 22nd, 2009 | By

Last week’s news that the Transportation for America’s report Dangerous by Design indicated that the Providence-Fall River-New Bedford region has spent the most federal dollars by percentage on pedestrian facilities ($4.01 per capita between 2005-2008) seems to also indicate that RI has the highest incidence of pedestrian fatalities in New England and is fourth in

Anti-texting Bill is Now the Law!

As has been reported, the anti-texting -while-driving issue we had previously noted is now the law.  On November 4th, the Governor signed S204B which the Assembly passed last month after amending it so that the fines for violations would be $85, $100, $125 for 1st, 2nd, 3rd offenses respectively. We know that enforcement is an

With the exception of adding a few more signs, sweeping, and stenciling the bike lanes on the Henderson Bridge, RIDOT has completed the bike lane project on the Henderson Bridge.  The big question I have, however, is would you use them? In the minds of the RIDOT engineers, they have transformed the Henderson into a

Providence Spent the Most on Pedestrian Projects?

Nov 10th, 2009 | By

I’m shocked.  According to a Providence Business News article: The federal government spent more on pedestrians in the Providence metropolitan area than in any other urban region over the last three years, according to a study released Monday. The government spent an average of $4.01 per person on bicycle and pedestrian projects annually in the
