I received a followup email from Lori. Apparently the the meeting was a complete success. Everyone on the council was in favor of the legislation and in January 2009, it will go into effect. They will also be forwarding the legislation to 30 cities in RI in an effort to have other towns join the movement. The next step is introduce the legislation in the Senate and, hopefully, it will become state law.

I'll post more details about the towns that should be receiving copies of the bill and actual details of the law once I get them.
