Sheldon BrownOne of the country’s most knowledgeable and passionate cycling advocates, Sheldon Brown, passed away on Sunday.

A VeloNews article points readers to a memorial blog for Sheldon Brown where they are encouraging people to submit their stories and memories.  I’d encourage anyone who knew Sheldon Brown to submit their comments to the blog.

He was an employee at Harris Cyclery in Newton MA and was renowned for his ability to patiently answer hundreds of emails a day from cyclists with vastly different levels of knowledge. There is a quick tribute to him on the bikeradar site.

This was posted on the NBW mailing list and provides some history on the impact Sheldon Brown had on Harris Cyclery:

Back in 2002 the Boston Globe did an article about Sheldon and Harris Cyclery. I couldn’t track it down in the Globe archives but did manage to find it here. The original Globe article was titled “Peddling on the Web”.
